Emily Myers

The potter’s wheel has always been central to my studio practice. I currently enjoy working with two contrasting clays, porcelain and red stoneware, with which I make two distinct types of ware.
I aim to make strong simple forms. Some vessels are faceted or carved at the leather- hard stage, in a time consuming and exacting manner. The forms are inspired by both man- made machinery such as cogs, and natural forms such as plant stems and seed pods.
I have been a Fellow of the Craft Potters’ Association for more than twenty years and my work is shown at selected galleries in the U.K including The Leach Pottery St. Ives and Contemporary Ceramics in London.
