James Lynch grew up in Wiltshire and lives in Somerset. Since his first sell-out exhibition in the West Country in the 1980s he has won awards, exhibited regularly in London and received many commissions from private clients and corporations. He is a painter of the English landscape who has spent years mastering the ancient medium of egg tempera. As part of our focus on this exacting technique, James will show a collection of new paintings nearly all of which are inspired by the area surrounding Messums Wiltshire.
He is a keen paraglider pilot and this ‘wild flying’ with buzzards inspires many of his landscape paintings and skyscapes. It is from his aeriel exploration of the landscape, suspended in a harness beneath his fabric wing, that James distills his luminescent paintings, including scenes of Mere Down, Berwick Combe and Woodminton Down.
