Common Bent

A set of paired works made in 2014 for Exchange, the farm art project in West Dorset for Cape Farewell.
Each framed work is 98 x 71 cm

100 sheets of A1 paper were buried in the soil of Dollens Farm in Sydling St Nicholas for 9 months. At the same time a cubit of turf was dug from the fields of the same farm, from which 60 or more plants were taken, root and all and scanned into a computer. These scanned plants were then mono-printed onto the sheets of buried paper and formed the basis of 3 leather bound A2 sized books with text by Kay Syrad from interviews with the farmers. The two paired works here were framed for the exhibition about our work with the farmers.
